Be A Walking Champion!
Walking Champions is a program organized by the Edmonton International Athletics Committee (“EIAC”) that addresses financial, social, and self-esteem barriers in school-aged populations by offering a free, school-based program.
Walking Champions program leaders include experienced sport and activity promoters, Olympic athletes, expert program delivery contractors, locally based teachers, and community volunteers. Walking Champions leaders are experienced in program development and delivery at the community level, while the Olympic athlete mentors have delivered numerous school-based talks.
In the winter, the program can be offered either indoors (e.g., in a school gymnasium or corridors) or (weather permitting) outdoors (e.g., footpaths or playgrounds). Minimal equipment is required for program delivery.
